[중력과 사랑]
나를 지탱하는 단단한 대지, 하늘에서 세차게 쏟아지는 비, 바람에 밀려오고 쓸려가는 물결, 뿌리 박힌 채 흔들리는 나무와 푸릇한 풀잎… 이 땅 위의 것들은 힘차다. 중력 때문이다. 중력으로 지금 여기 묶여있으나, 그 묶임이야말로 생명에 생기를 불어넣으며 자유를 준다.
중력과 닮은 것이 있다면 나는 주저 없이 사랑이라고 말하겠다. 중력이 자연의 법칙이라면 사랑은 삶의 법칙이다. 중력이 있으므로 우주가 존재하듯 사랑이 있으므로 우리가 존재한다. 존재가 삶의 변두리로 자꾸만 밀려나는 것 같을 때나 공허히 표류할 때, 사랑은 스스로 닻이 되어 떠도는 우리를 그 중심으로 끌어당긴다. 사랑이 우리를 삶으로 이끌고, 우리로 하여금 이 삶 위에 든든히 뜀박질하도록 만드는 것이다.
나는 이처럼 보이지 않으나 분명히 존재하는 힘, 사랑을 추상으로 표현한다. 힘에 의해 움직임이 생기듯 사랑으로 생기는 여러 움직임을 점과 선과 면과 색으로 은유하는 것이다. 수많은 별이 잠든 밤, 그 안에서 아스라하지만 따뜻하고도 선명하게 나를 부르는 사랑의 흔적을. 이를 그려내기 위해 수없이 물감을 쌓고 두드리고 긁는 것이 내 일이다.
물론 사랑 자체에 비하면 내가 그리는 점과 선과 면과 색은 별것 아님을 안다. 그러나 나를 삶의 중심으로 이끌던 것이 항상 거창하지는 않았음을 떠올린다. 해와 달이 언제나 거기 있듯 사소했고 그렇기에 대수로웠던 것을, 후에야 그것이 사랑으로 크고 깊고 희게 덮쳐왔음을 나는 기억하고 싶다.
어제도 있었고 오늘도 있으며 내일도 있을 사랑은 아름답다. 그 사랑이 결국 모든 것이 되어 우릴 자유하게 만드는 까닭이다. 나는 이 사랑을, 결코 퇴색되지 않을 힘을 믿는다. 부디 캔버스 평면 안에서, 그림을 바라보는 시선과 삶 속에서 이 법칙이 경험되기를 소망한다.

[Gravity and Love]
What supports life on this earth—strong trees, rushing rain, moving waves, swaying leaves—is all grounded by gravity. Gravity ties everything to this place, to the now. And through this very act of holding down, it gives life both energy and freedom.
If I were to name something that resembles gravity, it would be love. As gravity is the law of nature, love is the law of life. Just as gravity holds the universe together, love holds us in existence.
When I feel adrift or pushed to the edges of life, love acts as an anchor. It draws me back to center. It gives direction and motion, not through force, but through connection.
In my work, I try to express this invisible but undeniable force—love—through abstraction. I use dots, lines, planes, and colors to suggest the movements that love creates. Each mark and layer becomes a trace of that unseen force—quiet, but deeply present.
I know what I paint is not love itself. But I also know that the things that have anchored me in life were often small, subtle, and persistent. Like light that is always there, even when unnoticed.
Love—present yesterday, today, and tomorrow—is what I believe in. I hope the work allows this force to be felt—within the painting, and beyond it.
