안혜빈 Hevin Ahn (b. 1995)
대학 졸업 후 투병생활을 하며 내가 바라고 유일하게 할 수 있는 일은 예술이라고 깨닫게 되었다. 유약한 몸이지만 매일 조금씩 작품 활동에 매진하고 있다.
내 작품은 소망의 표현이다. 그 소망이란 슬프거나 좌절감이 들어도 완전히 낙심하지 않는 것, 곧 삶을 향한 믿음이다. 소망으로 내 세계가 계속 이루어져 가는 것처럼 내 작품이 사람들에게 소망을 선물할 수 있기를, 나는 또 소망한다.


ARTIST'S STATEMENT
수학적 의미에서 면적을 가진 동그라미는 점이라고 말할 수 없지만, 통념상 우리는 점을 상상할 때 아주 작은 동그라미 하나를 떠올리곤 한다. 나 역시 그러한 생각을 따라 내 작품의 동그라미를 점으로 여긴다. 각 점은 개인 존재일 수도, 순간일 수도, 그 외 무엇이든 될 수 있다고 생각하면서 말이다.
점 하나가 빈 종이 위에 붙으면 그 공간 안에 보이지 않던 길이 조금씩 생겨나기 시작한다. 혹여나 '방금 붙인 점이 잘못된 거라면 어떡하지?'와 같은 불안한 고민은 다음에 붙는 점이 해결해준다. 하나의 발자국 같은 각각의 다양한 점들은 시간이 지날수록 서로 얽혀 알 수 없는 선과 면을 이뤄내고, 그 위에 자잘한 무늬 유리가 덮이며 일렁이는 듯하다. 이 모든 것은 마침내 소망이라는 이름의 작품으로 완결된다.
소망이란 불안함 속에 흔들리지 않는 무엇이자 나를 붙잡는 무엇이다. 삶이라는 작품은 곧잘 흔들리다가도 그 소망으로 한 걸음씩 점찍으며 나아가고 또 만들어져 간다. 그렇기에 내 작업 중 대부분을 차지하는 점 붙이는 일과 시각적인 일렁임을 만드는 일, 그리고 작업의 가장 마지막 단계에 이르러 소망(HOPE)이라는 제목을 새기는 이 모든 과정이 아름다운 삶의 표현이 될 수 있기를 원하는 건, 내게 지극히 자연스러운 바람이다.

안혜빈 Hevin Ahn (b. 1995)
After graduating from college, I struggled with autonomic neuropathy, and I realized that the only thing I want to do and can do is art. Despite my weak body, I'm focusing on my work little by little every day.
My work is an expression of hope - not to be completely discouraged even when you are sad or frustrated. It represents faith in life. Just as my world continues to come true with that hope, I hope my work can give hope to another world.


ARTIST'S STATEMENT
In the mathematical sense, a circle with an area cannot be considered a point. However, in general, when we imagine a point, we think of a very small circle (a dot). I also view the circles in my work through this concept. I believe that each dot can represent an individual being, a moment, or anything else.
When a dot adheres to an empty piece of paper, an invisible path begins to emerge gradually in the space. Anxious worries, such as 'What if the one I just placed is wrong?' are resolved with the next dot. Over time, various dots, like footprints, become intertwined with each other, forming unpredictable lines and shapes. On top of them, small-patterned glass causes them to ripple. All of this culminates in a work named 'HOPE.'
HOPE is something unshakable in times of anxiety, something that sustains me. Life may falter at times, but by taking step-by-step strides with that HOPE, it transforms into a work of art. Therefore, it is a natural desire for me to want the entire process of my work - the act of dotting, creating visual ripples, and naming it 'HOPE' - to serve as a beautiful representation of life.
